Petrichord Headphones on, if you have them.

A porch, a lake, and a storm in no hurry.

You are sitting out the rain under a wooden roof, and the railing in front of you is an instrument. Put a bucket on it and the rain plays the bucket. Put a bell beside it and now there are two. Everything you place is already in key, so there is no wrong note and nothing to get right.

Then sit back and let the weather play it.

What you do. Choose something and set it on the railing: a bucket, a bowl, a tin, a barrel, a tray, a pitcher, a bell, a bottle. Click it again to nudge it up the scale. Click random if you would rather not decide. That is the whole of it. There is no score, no timer, and no way to lose.

The day goes by while you listen. Morning turns into afternoon turns into night. The sky goes from flat grey to deep blue, the lantern comes on by itself at six, fireflies come out over the grass, and the music changes key underneath you. Whatever you built follows it. A pattern you made at noon still sounds right at midnight.

Things that answer back. Not everything here is on the railing.

Take hold of the sky and pull. The sun moves with your hand. Sweep the wind chimes and they ring the chord the music is sitting on. There is a duck. There is a cat asleep at your feet. It stays asleep.
